Local Industry Veterans’ Wins Prestigious LaVasque Award


Raleigh, NC- The Manufactured and Modular Homebuilders Association (NCMHA) is pleased to announce Jimmy and Faye Starling of Starling Homes Pine Level, NC as the recipients of the James E. LaVasque award.

The James E. LaVasque Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a member of NCMHA.  The award is presented annually to a member who embodies high standards, vision and leadership ability of Oakwood Homes President James E. LaVasque, an industry pioneer who was one of the founders of the association and served as one of its first presidents.

This year Jimmy and Faye Starling joined the distinguished list of the LaVasque Award recipients in tribute to their 41 years in the industry.  During their careers, Jim has served as a NCMHA Board of Director, and both have been actively involved and honored numerous times at the state and local levels for their hard work and dedication to the manufactured and modular housing industry.

“This distinguished award is a tribute to Jimmy and Faye for their continuous service not only to their loyal customers, but also to the association as a whole,” Jim Holmes, NCMHA President.


The North Carolina Manufactured and Modular Homebuilders Association (NCMHA) is a non-profit trade association founded in 1968 to promote the ownership of manufactured and modular homes and to develop high professional standards for those involved in the industry.  NCMHA represents member companies including all of the retail sales centers in the state, all of the in-state manufacturers and virtually all of the out-of-state manufacturers who are licensed to ship homes to the state. A high percentage of the suppliers and finance companies are also members.  Membership in the association currently totals more than 1,000.  For more information, please visit
